Welcome. This is a new weekly blog by Alchemy Fox Studio, focused on the kind of Unreal Engine problems that actually trip up beginners — not the polished demo-day stuff, but the real "wait, why isn't this working?" moments.
Why another UE blog?
There's no shortage of Unreal tutorials on YouTube. So why a blog?
Two reasons:
- Searchable text wins. When you're stuck on a Cast Failed error at 11pm, scrubbing through a 22-minute video is misery. A well-structured blog post answers your question in 30 seconds.
- Beginner-relevant only. I've spent 15+ years shipping games and tools, and I notice the same questions over and over. This blog targets those — not the niche edge cases you'll only meet on year three.
What you can expect
One post per week. Always:
- Short. 5-10 minute read max.
- Focused on one beginner problem.
- Real screenshots and code, not theory.
- Both English and German.
The topics come from you. Head to the Topics page and vote — the top picks become the next posts.
What I make
I'm a one-person studio. Alongside this blog I build two things:
- Alchimist: Secret of the Worlds — an open-world alchemy RPG.
- FoxToolkit — a growing set of Unreal plugins solving everyday problems (data handling, save systems, async loading, dialogue, abilities, foliage, virtual textures).
The plugins I build are also the topics I know best, so expect some posts that walk through using them. They're optional — every post is useful even if you never buy a plugin.
The FoxToolkit ecosystem
9 production-ready plugins covering data, save/load, dialogue, abilities, async loading, and more — built for the problems I keep solving in my own game.
